Nairobi, Kenya – 21 September is UN International Day of Peace with celebrations around the world. Mererdith Beal delivered a message at the Nairobi, Kenya event held at Ramgarhia Gurudwara Pangani Sikh Temple. Here is the text of his message:

Greetings of peace my sisters and brothers. Happy International Day of Peace. As we awaken this morning to celebrate this year’s United Nations International Day of Peace, let us keep in mind the daunting challenges facing our world today.

Let us strive to face these challenges in harmony. The oneness of self and environment is a tenant that resonates with spiritual teachings around the world. Let us pray to hear the Wonderful Sound of a three-part harmony: Harmony between humanity and itself, harmony between humanity and the environment and harmony between humanity and the cosmos.

Let us pray that every heart feel the comfort of a warless world. Allow the Earth to glow in the warmth of harmony and peace. Let the wounds of centuries of hatred be healed among all the peoples in all the lands.
