Nairobi, Kenya – The Annual ICT Summit in Nairobi, Kenya kicked off with a keynote address by Meredith Beal, Senior Technology Advisor for the African Media Initiative. Beal talked about the convergence of ICT and TMT (Technology, Media and Telecom). “Mobile money transactions are expected to hit $30 billion this year. There are more cell phones in Africa than people! Though China is still the biggest smartphone market,” Beal explains. “The mobile revolution is empowering people in developing countries by delivering applications in health, education, banking, government, environment and business,” he notes.
The conference is organized by AITEC Africa, one of the continent’s leading ICT training and event organizations.
